Ordination of Fr. Nektarios as an Evangelist Deacon at the Church of the Resurrection

With the blessing of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, represented by His Beatitude Kyrios Kyrios Theophilos III, the Most Venerable, the servant Rabie Nasib Farah of Kfar Yassif was ordained an Evangelist Deacon on Saturday, December 24, 2016, and was given the name Father Nektarios Farah, rising to the first degree of the holy priesthood.

The holy ordination took place at Golgotha in the Church of the Resurrection in Jerusalem at seven o’clock in the morning, as the bells of the Church of the Resurrection rang out. The Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Joachim, assisted by a number of priests from the Galilee, and many friends and acquaintances from Kfar Yassif and the neighbouring villages also attended.

After the Liturgy everyone went to the Patriarchate to receive the congratulations of His Beatitude the Patriarch and of all who had taken part.

On Sunday, December 25, 2016, the newly ordained Deacon Fr. Nektarios served his first festal Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in his hometown of Kfar Yassif. The service was led by the Very Reverend Oikonomos Atallah Makhouli, and the chanting was led with him by the Very Reverend Oikonomos Theodoros Daoud, who is of Lebanese origin, together with the church choir. At the end of the Divine Liturgy the parish council presented the new deacon with an icon of St. Nicholas; the new deacon in turn thanked everyone present, the fathers and the sheikhs, and presented an icon of St. George to Fr. Theodoros, thanking him for the labour of his love in serving the people of the town.
